This home is on a corner lot, across from a park in a beautiful quiet section of the city of Philadelphia. Originally the home had many competing, dark and heavy patterns. There were blinds on every window and door, the space felt closed off and dark. The client wanted an updated traditional style to make things more challenging and fun the husband loves earth tones and the wife jewel tones. The overall goal was to combine their styles into one comprehensive space where they could entertain a large number of guests.
As you come up to the first floor, there is an oval window off center on the wall, this became our inspiration for the design. Curves can be found echoed in an oval mirror, the chandelier above the dining table, the ottoman and large semi-circular sofa.
We incorporated both jewel and earth tones into the color palette. Curves unite the first floor spaces and are easily adaptable for entertaining. The dining table expands to seat twelve guests and the living room seats at least eight. We really enjoyed updating this space and can’t wait to start work on the second phase of this home which includes the master bedroom and a 4th floor family room with wet bar.
